For marine applications Ellehammer is manufacturing in accordance with the rules of all known classification companies, mainly the IACS organisation.
Normally, ejectors for use on board ships do not require special inspection by one of the classification companies. The reason for this is that the ejectors, after having been installed on board ship, are subjected to an overall inspection together with the piping system and all other accessory elements.
Design and pressure test is standard procedure
However, it is a standard procedure of our company that ejectors undergo a design and pressure test before leaving the factory. If requested in due time, it is possible to provide a works certificate giving the results of this test and the materials used in fabrication of the respective pump.
Sometimes pumps may have to undergo an official inspection in the factory by the respective classification company for the ship in question. Depending on the scope of inspection demanded, the execution of such a test can incur quite considerable additional costs. Such inspection procedures are therefore liable to supplementary charges.
As per requirements, the following tests will be carried out:
The international classification companies are incorporated in the International Association of Classification Societies.
